Publicated: 21 March 2022: EIT Manufacturing - Teaching Factories Competition – open call for companies, universities, and VET Schools

As the demand for “learning by doing” is increasing rapidly, the EIT Manufacturing Education team have just launched their first Teaching Factories Competition with the focus on Green Manufacturing. The competition aims at companies, universities and vocational education and training (VET) centres under two separate calls:

  • On one hand, the call to the companies focuses on identifying 5 industrial challenges under the competition’s topic. Companies can be funded with 15.000€ if their challenge is selected.
  • On the other hand, universities and VET schools are invited to express their interest and appoint up to two teams of up to five students that will be addressing the selected challenges on Green Manufacturing at a later stage. 9.000€ in prizes are available for recognizing the best solver teams.

The participating companies will benefit from solutions and ideas generated by the competition that will help to solve their challenges and make their manufacturing more environmentally friendly. Universities and VET Schools will have the opportunity to offer their students an initiative to test their competences by applying them to real industrial problems and challenges, improving their preparation for their future work.

Future talents need to be equipped with the skills necessary for coping with increasing and changing industrial requirements. This is where the concept of Teaching Factories comes in; the students teams solve real-life industry challenges in a learning environment.
